I want out!

July 31st, 2008 at 01:47 am

I want out of credit card debt! I'm mostly positive about the whole thing, but some days (like today), I just look at the number and want to kick myself. It doesn't help that I've been watching Suze Orman's show this week.

I still feel so, SO stupid to let it get this bad. What was I thinking? I guess ... just nothing.

Obsessing over it isn't going to help. I know this. What's done is done. But I still can't help but panic at times.

Other than my obsessive ways, there's really nothing new to report. I sold another DVD on Amazon for a profit of a little over $3, so that will go to a credit card once that gets put in my account.

Have a good night, everyone!

I'm the same age as you and have almost exactly the same amount of credit card debt. I get depressed about it at times too... but then I try to remember the good things I have done (scholarship to pay for my bachelor's degree, etc). Gotta stay positive! Just remember, we are already ahead of the game to be so young and already focusing on this stuff. Smile

I'm the same age as well, and it is so distressing at times to see that kind of debt. I dont have as much CC debt, but I have so much in student loans due to some bad choices along the way (with terrible interest rates on top of it). I've been letting myself get really bogged down by my debt, but I keep reminding myself that if I just keep working hard and attacking it little by little that things will be okay. I've also recently started making sure that I dont let paying down my debt get in the way of doing things I enjoy. I dont mean run out and spend tons of money, but make sure you're letting yourself be happy Smile

Good luck, and I hope we both are debt free sometime soon!

Do you have a plan? Get on a budget and track your spending. Squeeze that budget. Then use what's left to pay off the credit cards. Sure it may take time.

So get mad as hell. Now use that to focus. Every purchasing decision you make will move you towards your debt free goal or away.

Also, the envelope system is a good way to go for variable costs like fun money, food, clothing, etc.

    Good luck!!!

I understand! I'm 34 and I only wised up about my finances about a year ago. I sometimes get a tightness in my chest when I think about how much CC debt I have (a little over $50K). But what can I do? Kicking my old self about it is worthless--she's gone and can't feel it. I just have to deal with it, and to do so I need a positive attitude. So I just try to congratulate current self for being so smart about finances, and visualize the day when my financial picture matches my new way of thinking. I'd give anything to be 22 and have $10K in debt, and to already be thinking thrifty like you. Many people would envy your position...
